Honoring an icon
This spring marked 50 years since the release of Edna Lewis’ tome, The Taste of Country Cooking, and we celebrated the legendary Southern chef on the Jubilee stage. Historian and author Toni Tipton-Martin and Edna’s niece Nina Williams-Mbengue joined chef and podcaster Adrienne Cheatham for a keynote conversation about Edna’s enduring legacy. Chef Adé Carrena of Iléwa handled the intro.
Recipe of the week
Ghia founder Mélanie Masarin added published author to her resume this spring and signed copies of her gorg debut cookbook, Riviera, at Jubilee. How beautiful is this recipe for Linguine With Clams & Chile? She suggests letting the clams open slowly to add their salty goodness to the garlic, chile, and olive oil. We want to dive right in.
Finding her voice
We wrapped our Jubilee in July Radio Cherry Bombe series with social media superstar Nara Smith and culinary creative Sophia Roe. Tune in to learn about Nara’s debut cookbook, Homemade (coming this October), her unique video style, and how her distinctive vocal style came about. Cookbook author and journalist Ella Quittner intro’d the duo.
