She’s the Queen of Dips

“I’d rather have someone hate me for my gratuitous use of puns than for my weight.”
Alyse Whitney, food and culture writer, TV personality, and author of Big Dip Energy, is spreading her infectious joy on Radio Cherry Bombe this week. She even arrived at the studio in Burbank, California, wearing earrings that reference her two dogs, Miso and Ritz, and a potato chip necklace preserved in glitter resin. “No one is me,” she says. “I am authentically the only Alyse Whitney in the world.” We couldn’t agree more.
If you’re still in a Super Bowl dippy mood—who isn’t? Bad Bunny forever—Alyse’s book is your resource. Your dip-tionary? Dip-pedia? We’re not as good at puns as Alyse, whose most inspired titles include:
Poutine on the Ritz Dip
Toum Raider
In Queso Emergency Dip
We love her dippable takes on diner classics, like a layered club sandwich dip with bacon-roasted tomatoes, and a tuna melt dip with a bubbly layer of melted cheese on top. (Perfect for that Heated Rivalry-themed party you might be thinking about.) It’s a cookbook that’s as maximalist as Alyse, exploding with color and humor, a great gift for the newer cooks in your life, who can… dip their toes into cooking... Really working on our puns here, sorrrrrry.
